Survey Blogging
Today in language arts class we had a debate. When we first started out i assumed that nobody would want to talk and be shy, but the exact opposite occurred. Everyone got really excited about the topic, and people had many different views on the topic. Some kids even got so excited about our debate they even continued to discuss it in S.T.E.P class. We are currently reading the book My Brother Sam is Dead, which is about the revolutionary war, so I have decided to present you all with this question…
If you were living during the time of the Revolutionary War, would you be a patriot or loyalist? Why have you chosen this side?
Personally I would be a loyalist. I know that many people probably disagree, so if you disagree please leave me comments stating your views on this question. I have done some research on this topic and on 15 to 25% were loyal to the King. They were greatly outnumbered by patriots, and were quite the minority. Everyone in the colonies referred to themselves as Englishmen and women, and when people in England were being taxed the Colonists were being taxed too. They should have not felt upset by these taxes because if they considered themselves British, then they should live the British way. I am really looking forward to your comments and views on this topic!

great blog. to answer the question above, i would side with the Patriots because i have read several books such as My Brother Sam is Dead as you are reading currently. I sided with the Patriots when i read this book.
