September 11, 2001 is a day i will never forget. I remember i was in second grade and all the after school activities were being cancled. None of the student knew what was going on, and none of the teachers would tell us. I remember asking my second grade teacher what was happening, and she said to ask my mom when i got home. I did not understand how something could be such a big secret that no teacher would tell us. As soon as my mom picked me up from school I immeditally asked her “So mom, what is this big secret?” She was hesitant to tell me, but she eventually did. She explained to me that some bad men from another country took control of two airplanes and crashed them into the World Trade Center in New York City. I could not understand why someone would want to kill themselves and so many other people. To tell the truth, 9/11 really did not affect me until I got older and could understood what their motives were and why they wanted to do something horrible to the United States. When i was in second grade i could tell my mom was shaken up by 9/11, but i really did not understand why. On the one year anniversiary of 9/11 our school had everybody in the school come outside and hold a certain color paper above your head. On the school roof a photographer took a picture of us, and everybody in the school ended up creating one big giant American flag. Whenever I look at that picture i will always have the memory of 9/11 in my mind. What memories do you have about 9/11?Don’t forget to comment!
